August 23, 2024

Manhattan, NY — We are pleased to share an important milestone in our organization’s journey toward fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace. Today, we proudly announce the voluntary recognition of the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys (ALAA) – UAW Local 2325 as the representative Union for ABB’s employees.

This decision marks the beginning of a partnership that is built on shared values and a mutual commitment to our respective missions. Together, A Better Balance management and the Union are dedicated to advancing work-family justice, improving the lives of workers nationwide, and ensuring that our organizational practices reflect the very principles we advocate for in our work.

The Union and management are united in the belief that this partnership will help us achieve our goals more effectively by creating an environment where every contribution is valued. We are committed to building the infrastructure and systems to support a strong, healthy, and productive relationship between the Union and management. By working together, we believe we can create an even stronger foundation from which we can all continue to serve our mission with excellence and integrity.

We thank everyone for their continued dedication and commitment to our shared vision. We look forward to the positive impact that this partnership will bring to our organization and the communities we serve.

About A Better Balance

A Better Balance is the leading national nonprofit legal advocacy organization dedicated to work-family justice. We use the power of the law to ensure all workers can care for themselves and their loved ones, without sacrificing their economic security. Through legislative advocacy, direct legal services and strategic litigation, and public education, our expert legal team combats discrimination against pregnant workers and caregivers and advances supportive work-family policies like paid sick time, paid family and medical leave, fair scheduling, and accessible, quality childcare and eldercare. When we value the work of providing care, which has long been marginalized due to sexism and racism, our communities and our nation are healthier and stronger.
