Bargaining Update | Lenox Hill, CMS, and CFR Workers Ratify Strong First Contract
After almost a year of bargaining, workers at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, Catholic Migration Services and Center for Family Representation each ratified strong first contracts in the past two months bringing more than 100 members into ALAA as official union members.
Lenox Hill Neighborhood House
Staff Attorneys at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House who provide representation to low-income tenants in Manhattan ratified a 5-year collective bargaining agreement. The contract provides for an initial salary increase of 15%, the first step system in the organization’s history, healthcare premiums reduced by 50% and frozen for the term of the CBA, and strong contractual obligations to allow attorneys to pursue affirmative and impact litigation including supporting rent strikes.
Catholic Migration Services
25 staff members at Catholic Migration Services, a non-profit associated with the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, providing tenant, immigration, and employment representation, unanimously ratified a 3-year contract including significant raises, workload standards, and other protections
Center for Family Representation
The almost 70 staff of the Center for Family Representation have been fighting for over a year for a fair contract, as management refused to budge on key issues like union recognition, just cause, lay-off and others. Workers ratified a 2-year deal which includes strong just cause language, guaranteed retirement benefits, lay-off protections, and workload standards.
