Resolution in Support of Law360 Union - CWA NewsGuild Local 31003

Passed at the September 10, 2024 Joint Council

At midnight on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the Law360 Union went on Unfair Labor Practice strike after nearly two years of bargaining for a second contract with LexisNexis and Law360 management.

The nearly 300 members of the Law360 Union are fed up with the company’s ULPs and its attempts to shortchange them on wages while saddling them with ballooning healthcare costs. Their employer has committed numerous ULPs, including mid-negotiation layoffs of 10% of staff on the same day that its parent company LexisNexis announced record profits and unilateral changes to healthcare plans, resulting in the union filing charges with the National Labor Relations Board.

Following two weeks of marathon bargaining, Law360 management and LexisNexis executives continued to demand unionized workers accept paltry raises amid historic inflation and accept a healthcare plan that would drastically increase costs after rejecting the union’s proposed healthcare plan, which would save both sides thousands of dollars. In the face of these bad faith actions, Law360 workers have walked off the job.

The work performed by members of the Law360 Union is invaluable to the work performed by members of the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys, as they shine a light on the court systems in which we labor. Their fight for a fair contract not only helps us, it helps our clients. An injury to one is an injury to all.

The Association of Legal Aid Attorneys - UAW Local 2325 resolves to:

  1. Donate $3,000 to the Law360 Union’s member-led hardship Gofundme.

  2. Encourage ALAA members to:

    1. Refuse to cross the digital picket line by not reading, paying for, or contributing to Law360 publications

    2. Donate to the Law360 Union’s Gofundme

    3. Sign the Law360 Support Petition

    4. Read the Law360 Union strike publication

    5. Join Law360 Union pickets in person.
