The purpose of this resolution is to actualize some of the key demands detailed and mirrored in both the UAW Local 2325/ALAA Resolution to Stand Up Against Attacks on Immigrants and to Support Equal Rights for All Workers in the United States, which passed unanimously (108-0-0) at the ALAA-UAW Local 2325 Joint Council on February 11, 2025, as well as the Resolution Affirming Our Union’s Commitment to Resisting Attacks on Immigrants and on LGBTQ+ Individuals and Communities, to Defending the Rights of All Workers and Students, and to Combatting Authoritarianism in the Government and in the Workplace, which passed unanimously (49-0) at the UAW Local 7902 Joint Council on February 21, 2025. Combined, both UAW 9A locals represent over 8,000 UAW members.

The Joint Council of ALAA-UAW Local 2325 calls on the UAW Region 9A CAP Council to do the following:

  1. Agendize a UAW Local 2325 immigration legal services worker to speak at the March 23-25 UAW Lobbying Conference in Albany, NY. Any speaker's remarks will prioritize political education for UAW Regions 9A and 9 members, including key material ways for New York state to reject heightened immigration law enforcement in our communities (such as passing state legislation like the Dignity Not Detention Act), and why such legislative efforts are essential to fighting for the working class, including UAW members and their communities at large.

  2. Endorse the New York For All Act, which has been endorsed in both the UAW Local 2325 and UAW Local 7902 resolutions detailed above, by signing onto this letter here. Should the UAW Region 9A CAP Council vote to endorse this legislation, the ALAA-UAW 2325 representatives on the UAW Region 9A CAP Council will be tasked with completing the sign-on form here and circulating proof of completion to ALAA via the ALAA wide listserv to notify all members about the endorsement.
