Whereas,

The Trump Administration and unelected billionaire Elon Musk are waging an unprecedented assault on public services, the agencies that provide them, and the workers who make them run;

Whereas,

Federal workers across agencies are organizing and fighting back to defend public services and democracy from oligarchs, and have organized the Let Us Work campaign to coordinate rapid response direct action to oppose layoffs,

Whereas,

Unionized workers at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) have called for a weekly lunchtime picket at 26 Federal Plaza as part of the Let Us Work campaign, and have asked that different unions and locals “sponsor” the pickets, by encouraging their members to focus turnout to support on a particular day;

Therefore be it resolved,

  1. That ALAA endorses the Let Us Work campaign and stands in solidarity with the workers fighting back against the dismantling of public services and illegal firing of federal workers;

  2. That ALAA shall ”sponsor” the picket in support of illegally fired federal workers scheduled for April 2, 2025 at 26 Federal Plaza from 1pm-2pm, including but not limited to:

    1. Encouraging ALAA members to attend the April 2, 2025 picket;

    2. Promoting the April 2, 2025 picket on ALAA social media accounts;

    3. Inviting our NYC legal services sector siblings in LSSA 2320, NOLSW 2320, and 1199SEIU to join us in supporting the April 2, 2025 picket;

    3. Encouraging ALAA members to support the campaign in whatever way they can individually, including by signing up to be a part of the rapid response network;

    4. Providing such material support for the campaign as is reasonable and feasible;

  4. That ALAA calls on UAW Region 9A and on the International UAW to endorse the Let Us Work Campaign and to provide all possible material support to demonstrations in NYC and across the country.
